Aerodrome - Approaches
Overhead joins are
discouraged. Make straight-ins from 5 miles out for both R/W 26 and R/W 08
(having flown round the M25 Motorway to position for the straight-in if necessary)
crossing ATZ Boundary (2 miles out) at 1300ft QNH. Circuit traffic have
instructions to avoid straight-in traffic by extending down-wind or
going-around. Report at 5 miles and at 2 miles (approaching "Tall
Building" for R/W 26)
Alternatively join
for R/W 26 from M25 Motorway on extended base-leg for a 2-mile final KEEPING
WELL CLEAR of circuit traffic by turning down-wind if necessary. Report when
leaving motorway "on extended Right Base for R/W 26", and when turning
finals at 2-miles (the "Tall Building").

Circuits
There are three
circuits on the north side of the aerodrome and a single circuit on the south
side. Circuits are changed from north to south and visa versa at 1300Z every day
regardless of the runway in use. The FISO will advise "RUNWAY IN USE . .
." "LEFT HAND" or "RIGHT HAND" and in the case of north
circuit "OUT" "MID" or "IN" at the same time as he
passes the QFE or QNH. Changes from Out to Mid to In and back to Out take place
every hour.
It is the
responsibility of pilots to familiarise themselves with these unusual
arrangements before attempting circuit flying. The FISO can supply charts. Circuit
traffic must avoid straight-ins by extending down-wind or going-around.
